COMING UP NEXT...

Jesus isn’t just part of our lives, He’s meant to shape every part of them. He is the blueprint, the vision of who we are becoming through His Spirit. That means every area such as how we love our spouse, raise our kids, spend our time, and direct our hearts must be aligned with Him. Building our lives on Jesus changes how we set priorities, manage schedules, and pursue goals, setting us apart from the world around us. And when we stumble, His grace fills our homes, covering our failures and helping us grow. Together, we are learning to build the kind of homes God desires, places marked by love, grace, and His presence.
Week 1 (Oct. 5)— Blueprint: The Vision (Colossians 1:9-15)
One of the most exciting parts of building a home is dreaming about what it will look like. Seeing those dreams drawn out in a blueprint helps your mind picture the finished product, and that blueprint becomes the guide for every step that follows. In the same way, we all carry a mental blueprint of what we think our lives should be. For followers of Jesus, he is the ideal human—the true blueprint that shapes everything. As Christians, we must shift our vision of the ideal life away from the patterns of the world and align it with the life and character of Jesus.
Week 2— Foundation: The Commitment (Colossians 2:6-8)
When you pour the foundation of a house, it’s final. You can’t reshape it later. It defines everything that will be built on top of it. The same is true for our lives. If Jesus is the blueprint, then he also sets the form of our foundation. Following him isn’t just about checking the right boxes to get the life we want; it’s about aligning our whole way of life with his. This kind of deep commitment doesn’t just influence our choices—it transforms them. It reshapes how we love our spouse, raise our kids, spend our time, and even what we long for.
Week 3— Framing: The Impact (3:18-21)
As the walls of a home start to rise, the vision finally begins to take shape. You can see the layout, picture where the windows will let in light, and imagine life inside those walls. When we focus on the blueprint of Jesus, we begin to see how he frames the way we’re meant to live—as husbands, wives, children, and followers of God. His life and teachings give shape to how we love, serve, and obey. But that structure doesn’t build itself. Scripture gives us spiritual practices that help form the framework of our lives. When we lean into those, we become who we were created to be, building homes and relationships that reflect his heart.
Week 4— Rooms: The Grace (3:12-17)
Jesus is the vision of who we’re becoming but let’s be honest, none of us are going to get it perfectly right. We’ll stumble. We’ll fall short. Sometimes we’ll make honest mistakes, and other times we’ll choose what we know is wrong. That’s why grace is so essential. God doesn’t just call us to follow Jesus; he walks with us in our weakness, offering forgiveness and helping us grow. And if grace is what God offers us, it’s what we must extend to each other in our homes. Spouses, kids, and parents all need space to fail, to be forgiven, and to grow. A home shaped by grace becomes a place of peace. Not because it’s perfect, but because love is bigger than failure. That’s the kind of environment where real transformation happens.
